Board the Windeward Bound for an intimate sailing experience into Port Davey in the pristine Tasmanian Southwest Wilderness World Heritage area.

Our unique 8 day cruise travels through Tasmania’s beautiful World Heritage area of Port Davey, an untouched bay full of natural wonder. Let us take you to some of Tasmania’s most spectacular and inaccessible places, including Melaleuca, the gateway to the southwest and South East Cape where our early settlers turned north to establish Hobart. You will be immersed in jaw-dropping scenery, incredible pioneer history and abundant nature and wildlife.

The Windeward Bound is an authentic traditional square rigged Tall Ship and replicates early vessels that explored this area. Your sailing experience is enhanced by beautiful Tasmanian food and wine, the comfort of hot showers and restful bunks after an exciting day exploring.

Our exclusive cruises are run twice a year and are open to a maximum number of 10 people. This is an all inclusive package including all food, drinks and activities for AUD$3650.00.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1 – Departing Hobart, meander down the D'Entrecasteaux channel, past Bruny Island and into the Southern Ocean.

Day 2 – Arrive early in the incredible Port Davey to enjoy the uninhabited surrounds and an expedition to Davey Gorge.

Day 3 to 5, Discover the amazing history and scenery of this pristine part of the world, kayaking, bushwalking and exploring incredible destinations such as Melaleuca, Bathurst Harbour and Spring River.

Day 6 – Climb Mount Parry (suitable to all fitness levels) to view the entire Port Davey area.

Day 7 – Begin the sail back by rounding the dramatic South West Cape and turning East for South East Cape before turning north for Hobart. Stopping at Recherche Bay your historian will guide your through the significance of this former settlement.

Day 8 – Following a leisurely breakfast in Recherche Bay sail gently into Hobart in the late afternoon.

Our friendly staff can help you with accommodation options in and around Hobart as well as transfers to Hobart International Airport if required.
